The wonderful world of Sedums…..Spring 2019

Welcome to our wonderful world of SedumShack Sedums and Hylotelephiums. These Succulents are hardy, – resistant to both frost AND drought. Usually , our gardens get plenty of water but in extreme locations watering can be a problem for most other plants.
Sedums like dry….this is when they us up the moisture they have stored previously. If they could talk – you would hear them mocking and laughing at other plants during warm, dry weather!!!
But a tough plant isn’t enough for a keen gardener – it also has to be attractive in leaf AND flower, and in decay…and Sedums do it all. They are not massive plants – they cannot compete with a monstrous Lupin or delphinium, but that’s not the game….these types of plants are small, attractive and rewarding. AND they rarely disappoint…if you make an effort it’s nice that a plant doesn’t just die anyway because things weren’t perfect!!!! Sedums are tough to resist most problems, are generally pest and disease free and usually live to fight another year – they are real perennials that close down and sleep over winter…doing their ‘thing’ from spring to autumn each year.
Summer is an exciting time for Sedums- they grow leaves, buds and then the real magic begins….
