Sedum BlueSpruce Rambler – S.Reflexum

This evergreen Sedum grows blue coloured ‘spruce-like’ leaves, stems rising up to 15cm high, plus 10cm more sunshine yellow flowers each summer,Spreads far and wide, rooting and branching as it rambles.
Sedum reflexum aka Spruce Stonecrop (similar to Sedum rupestre) is a fantastic vigorous species of Stonecrop, excellent as a groundcover or ‘blue lawn substitute’ in hot, sunny areas. It forms a mat of blue leaves, arranged around the stems like spruce needles. Clusters of bright yellow star flowers appear in summer. A fast grower, this is best kept away from slower alpine plants that it might smother as it rambles over them. Therefore its a great choice for tubs and mixed containers …transplant the sedum elsewhere when all else has withered and faded.

A fast-growing plant, it makes a good lawn alternative, providing dense, albeit less robust ground cover.
AKA Petrosedum to some folk who think genetics are more worthy than history.

Over the summer months Blue-Spruce produces lemon yellow flowers that are attractive to pollinating insects. It also looks great combined with other plants that enjoy growing in free-draining soils, like sempervivums and other hardy sedums.
We supply small but well rooted plug plants…each may be a dinner-platesized plant after a year so give this eager sedum room to ramble!

For best results, grow Sedum reflexum in full sun in well-drained soil. It needs very little pruning or aftercare …and certainly no extra water need if it gets skyfall.
