Gold Mound Sedum (VR/CB) -Sedum mexicanum , ‘Mexican Stonecrop’ is a hardy perennial succulent that grows as a dense mat-like groundcover of needle-like, light green leaves.
This is a very useful and dense groundcovering , carpeting Sedum with yellow star shaped flowers in early Summer. It is very easy to grow, it makes a great border edging or container filler and requires very little maintenance. It suffers last if you forget to water over hot, dry spells so is a perfect choice for forgetful gardeners!
‘Gold Mound’ is a popular low-growing cultivar with foliage that is golden in shade and lime green in full sun.
Compared with ‘Angelina’ it branches more and thus travels less. Gold mound performs better in containers and low growing gravel areas. Flowers are abundant and vivid sunshine yellow.
Soil: A well drained soil is the only requirement. This versatile plant can grow happily in either sun or shade or any combination of – though they do perform best with plenty of direct sun. Drought and salt air tolerant.
Maintenance: No maintenance is necessary – apart from a light trim to keep neat. Keep leaf debris away by tidying up occasionally and it will grow a lovely golden mat.
